Overview
Airbus Helicopters UK Ltd (AHUK) is the world’s largest helicopter manufacturer. This permanent, professional role is based in the Business Improvements team and focuses on designing and implementing data systems that enhance business processes.
Main Responsibilities
* Build and maintain a robust Single Source of Truth (SSOT) using modern data architecture principles to ensure consistency across all business applications.
* Ensure data is prepared and available for analytics and reporting tools.
* Independently develop solutions (workflows, small apps, dashboards) on the Skywise platform and Google AppSheet, ensuring seamless integration with the central SSOT.
* Use Python and SQLAlchemy for effective ORM and data modeling.
* Collaborate with data analysts and cross‑functional teams to align data sources with business needs, acting as the gatekeeper for data architecture standards.
* Implement validation processes and error‑detection mechanisms at the database level to maintain data integrity and quality.
* Optimize data workflows for faster processing, reducing downtime and improving operational efficiency.
* Automate manual processes related to data collection, reporting, and analysis to increase speed and reduce human error.
* Translate business requirements into technical data solutions that support performance tracking and improvement initiatives.
* Develop scalable solutions to handle increasing volumes of data as business needs evolve.
Knowledge and Skills
* Expertise in data architecture, particularly designing and maintaining an SSOT.
* Advanced proficiency in Python with a strong focus on SQLAlchemy for database interactions and data modeling.
* Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases and database design, capable of optimizing complex queries.
* Proficiency with Google products, App Script, App Sheet, Google automations and Google Sheet functionality.
* Knowledge of Python, Git, PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML & CSS.
* Expertise in data analysis methodologies and processes and their linkage to other business processes.
* Ability to understand and analyse existing business processes and suggest improvements based on data insights and automation opportunities.
* Ability to translate business needs into technical data solutions that align with company objectives.
Essential Qualifications
* Advanced programming skills in Python (SQLAlchemy) and SQL.
* Experience developing dashboards in Skywise, Google Looker, or comparable software.
* Full‑stack experience from backend architecture to front‑end business application.
* Understanding of key business metrics and KPIs, ensuring data pipelines support decision‑making.
* Planning and scope‑management skills.
* Strong communication skills to liaise with non‑technical teams and refine project requirements.
* STEM HND education.
Desirable
* Knowledge of airline and MRO operations.
* Proven experience designing and implementing a central SSOT data architecture.
* Business or industrial experience.
* Application or software development experience.
Additional Requirements
* Requirement for DBS Security Clearance and eligibility for SC clearance.
* Compliance with Export Compliance Regulations.
