The Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS) seeks to appoint a researcher to the position of "Research Associate" who will add to our current portfolio in research. The position is part-time and on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027. The postholder will join the Pharmacoepidemiology and Healthcare Research Group to support our expanding research programme and will be working on a collaboration between the university, NHS Health Boards and Public Health Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government: The Cancer Medicines Outcomes Programme (CMOP-PHS). Established in 2016, CMOP-PHS focuses on generating real world evidence on cancer medicines. The vision is to create a national cancer intelligence resource capability to provide rapid feedback on findings to inform policy, service delivery, and patient-clinician decision making. CMOP-PHS's main work is: linking routine electronic patient healthcare data to report on the use and impact of cancer medicines; and future data development through supporting the collection and use of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs). CMOP-PHS co-founded the Scottish Cancer PROMs Advisory Group (SC PROMs AG) to support PROMs collection and implementation in Scotland. CMOP-PHS publish all work via Public Health Scotland and has a patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE) element. The candidate will support the following work streams:

* CMOP-PHS PPIE: Focused on supporting the development of lay summaries for CMOP-PHS publications.

* SC PROMs Advisory Group: Working with project support staff in keeping up to date with PROMs implementers and bringing questions/queries/requests to the SC PROMs AG/PROMs Executive Team where appropriate; Supporting the PROMs Forum events, which are open online events run every 6-12 months, involving pre, during and post-event support; Supporting PROMs data development opportunities- engaging with Scottish PROMs implementers to explore and support the linkage of PROMs data with other routine healthcare data sets (may include small pilot datasets and proof of concepts); Supporting and informing the evaluation of the Scottish Cancer PROMs Toolkit (developed by the SC PROMs AG)- work will involve shaping an evaluation plan to assess the Toolkit's uptake and impact since October 2024, utilising a range of appropriate methods, and generate recommendations for version 2 of the Toolkit; Assist in the writing of academic papers on CMOP-PHS's Scottish cancer PROMs experience.

* CMOP-PHS communications: CMOP-PHS newsletter development and publication; Support the team to ensure standard operating procedures, protocols and report templates are refreshed and up to date, which aides the preparation and sign off of all public-facing publications.

As a Research Associate, under the guidance of a research leader, you will develop and support research, knowledge exchange and public engagement objectives & activities. You will write up research work for publication, individually or in collaboration with colleagues, and disseminate the results via peer reviewed journal publications and presentations at conferences. You will join external networks to share information and ideas, inform the development of research objectives, and identify potential sources of funding. You may collaborate with colleagues to ensure research advances inform departmental teaching efforts and you will collaborate with colleagues on the development of knowledge exchange activities by, for example, participating in initiatives which establish research links which may influence public policy and the professions. You will co-supervise student projects, providing advice and contributing to teaching as required by, for example, running tutorials/supervising practical work. You will contribute in a developing capacity to Department/School, Faculty and/or University administrative and management functions and committees and engage in continuous professional development.
