Position Purpose
The CNC Router Operator is responsible for setting up and operating computer-controlled routers to cut, drill, and shape various materials such as wood, plastics, composites, and aluminum. This role plays a key part in producing high-quality components to meet customer specifications and production deadlines. The operator ensures precise execution of programmed designs, monitors machine performance, maintains work area cleanliness, and contributes to the overall efficiency and safety of the manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
* Set up, load, and operate CNC routers based on work orders, CAD files, and engineering drawings.
* Adjust settings, select proper tooling, and verify machine calibration for each job.
* Inspect finished parts using measuring tools to ensure they meet dimensional and visual standards.
* Identify and correct basic machine or tooling issues to minimize downtime.
* Perform routine maintenance on machines and ensure equipment is in proper working condition.
* Maintain a clean and organized work area, following 5S and safety practices.
* Interpret design files (e.g., DXF, DWG) and understand material layouts for efficient cutting.
* Communicate with supervisors and designers to resolve production issues or design discrepancies.
* Ensure work is completed accurately and within scheduled timeframes.
* Follow all safety procedures, wearing PPE and always adhere to company policies.
Position Requirements
* Proven experience operating CNC routers in a manufacturing, signage, or woodworking environment.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD files.
* Familiarity with CNC programming software (e.g., VCarve, EnRoute, Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar).
* Basic understanding of materials such as MDF, plywood, acrylics, and aluminum composites.
* Competent in using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, squares) for quality checks.
* Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
