My client is a leading supplier of food processing equipment and systems for various sectors. They are currently in need of a Sales Engineer to join their team in Peterborough.
ROLE: To develop technical & commercial proposals in response to customer enquiries. To contribute to the team effort in increasing sales opportunities, order intake and the contribution earned on those sales to meet acceptable targets. To field and generate enquiries received into the business and to liaise directly to develop technical applications in response to customer enquiries.
DUTIES:
* From enquiries / leads generated, from direct inbound customer enquiries or leads generated by Regional or Global Sales Managers from within group companies, review the information provided and develop a technically sound and commercially viable solution with support from technical and commercial colleagues. If the enquiry / lead does not provide sufficient information for a review to be completed, communicate directly with the customer to gather the necessary information for a successful review to take place
* Preparation of cost estimates and proposal documents once a technically sound and commercially viable solution has been established. Discussions, meetings, visits with suppliers and other company departments as necessary should be conducted to ensure a technically robust and commercially accurate proposal is submitted
* Where appropriate, maintain regular contact with customers within the defined sales territory or industry segments
* To support detailed enquiry pre-qualifications and play an active role in developing ‘strategies to win’ based on sound understanding of the customer’s technical and commercial requirements including decision making processes, project timescales, all relevant financial considerations and competition
* To establish and develop sustainable customer relationships in a professional manner
* To provide technical knowledge and expertise to both internal and external customers including group companies
* The candidate will be required to feedback on market information, customer comments and competitor details and projects
* To prepare and maintain CRM System to enable sales reporting, forecasts and ensuring customer contact information is up to date
* To be aware of and follow all company Health & Safety policies and procedures including feeding back any H&S information to management
* Be aware of and demonstrate the company values and behaviours
SKILLS:
* Background and/or experience in food engineering and processing or other relevant industry experience
* Willingness to travel as necessary as part of the role
* Flexible and able to work on own initiative or as part of the team
* Proven Sales, Sales Support or Customer Service experience
* Fluency in a second language would be useful
* Excellent communication and presentation skills, at all levels within customers’ operations as well as within the company
HOURS: 37 HOURS PER WEEK
* Monday to Thursday 8.30 to 16.45; Friday 8.30 -15.00 - a 30 minute lunch break
