Role Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Scrub Practitioner to join our expanding theatre team. You will play a vital role in supporting ophthalmic procedures, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety throughout the perioperative journey. You will report directly to the Clinical Services Manager.
This position is full-time, but we would consider part-time applicants.
iSIGHT Clinic is open 7 days per week, this position will include weekend working.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare operating theatres and surgical equipment for ophthalmic procedures.
* Assist surgeons during operations, maintaining sterile technique, and ensuring patient safety.
* Monitor and support patients throughout the intraoperative phase.
* Maintain accurate documentation and uphold confidentiality standards.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care.
* Participate in audits, training, and continuous professional development.
* May be required to assist with return to theatre cases out of hours.
Requirements
* Registered Nurse (RGN) or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with valid NMC or HCPC registration.
* Previous experience in a scrub role, ideally within ophthalmology or minor-op procedures.
* Strong understanding of infection control and theatre protocols.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Commitment to patient-centred care and clinical excellence.
* Current ILS/ALS certification is desirable but not essential
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Outlook, Excel, and Word
