Vacancy: Plant Operations Manager
Location: ReFood Ltd, Widnes
Business: The ReFood AD plants operate as integrated recycling units, processing various food wastes to produce biogas, renewable electricity, heat, and ReGrow (a nutrient-rich fertiliser for local farms). The plants also recycle food waste packaging, providing an environmentally sustainable waste management solution.
The Position: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Plant Operations Manager to join our team. This full-time, permanent role offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. It is ideal for someone eager to join an established, growing company committed to conserving natural resources and protecting the environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure on-site operations run efficiently to meet output requirements.
2. Collaborate with management to establish processes and KPIs, driving continuous improvement.
3. Manage and maintain site resources, including personnel, plant, and equipment.
4. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including Environmental Permits, ABP licences, and statutory standards.
5. Maintain management system compliance with ISO9001, PAS110, ADQP, and work towards ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards.
6. Lead health and safety initiatives, including developing risk assessments, safe working procedures, and SOPs.
7. Monitor site systems regularly to ensure optimal process performance.
8. Engage, motivate, and develop staff with a focus on training.
9. Coordinate with sales and commercial teams to meet client requirements.
10. Work with the Transport department to align deliveries and dispatches.
11. Manage engineering requirements and preventative maintenance with the engineering team.
12. Support site projects and business development through cross-department collaboration.
Candidate Profile:
* Educated to degree level or equivalent in Waste Management, Science, or Engineering. Alternatively, candidates with experience in brewing, food production, chemical industries, or waste/wastewater management will be considered.
* Qualified in IOSH Managing Safely and willing to pursue NEBOSH General Certificate.
* Desirable: Wamitab COTC qualification.
* Experience in operational management within continuous process manufacturing.
* Excellent people management skills and stakeholder communication.
* Strong decision-making skills and ability to work under pressure.
* Proficiency in MS Office and good communication skills.
* Practical, flexible, and hardworking with a strong work ethic.
