Overview
Scarsdale Vets Pride Park, Derby is looking for an Emergency Out of Hours Veterinary Surgeon to join their team on a 9 Month Fixed Term Contract (running December '25 - September '26).
This role offers a diverse and steady ECC workload as we cover OOH for our own practices and surrounding practices. If you enjoy ECC and challenging non-routine cases then this role could be exactly what you are looking for. We have an excellent range of facilities and equipment which contribute to a high standard of patient care.
Responsibilities
* Looking after the existing inpatients and undertaking procedures/emergency surgery as required (e.g., foreign body removal, GDV, C-Section, dressing changes).
Working pattern
This role uses a supportive 7 on, 14 off rota pattern to increase exposure to an ECC caseload.
The Team
The main hospital is based at Pride Park in Derby and is home to a busy first opinion practice, a multidisciplinary referral service and an out-of-hours service. We have 8 practice sites in addition to the hospital. We have a talented and enthusiastic experienced team of veterinary surgeons supported by Registered Veterinary Nurses, Veterinary Care Assistants and Client Care Advisors. All our stand-alone practices are RCVS approved. Our main hospital is well equipped with a CT scanner, MRI, Advanced Ultrasound, Endoscopy, Digital X-ray, Dental radiography, and multiple surgical suites, as well as an onsite hydrotherapy & rehabilitation centre and our multi-disciplinary specialist led referral service.
Applicant Requirements
* Previous experience in OOH or in a rotating internship would be advantageous, but ultimately we are looking for people who thrive in a fast paced, challenging yet supportive environment, where first class patient care is at the core of everything we do.
Why join us
Why not come and visit us, see our fantastic hospital, and meet some of the team — we could be just the opportunity you have been looking for!
