The Role
1. Support the Nurse in Charge /Manager to ensure the Support Workers and Care Assistants are carrying out all delegated tasks to a high standard.
2. Support the Care Assistants to fulfill their roles, and provide feedback to the Nurse in Charge on any concerns or positive outcomes.
3. Assist in meeting the personal needs of the service users in a respectful manner that promotes independence, including outings and skill development.
4. Help in caring for the physical environment and in the daily activities of the Home.
5. Organize activities for residents, such as handicrafts, games, reading, outings, etc., to help them lead fulfilling lives.
6. Recognize and meet the emotional, physical, medical, and spiritual needs of the service users as far as possible.
7. Fulfilling the role of key worker, encouraging residents in decision-making.
8. Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, including handovers and communication with outside services like GP appointments.
9. Collaborate with families, providing feedback and maintaining confidentiality.
10. Follow the leadership of the Nurse in Charge and work in partnership to ensure high standards of care.
11. Administer and record medication as per documentation.
12. Assist in assessing needs and developing Care Plans in collaboration with relevant parties.
13. Carry out risk assessments and ensure their implementation.
14. Assist with staff supervisions and appraisals.
15. Take responsibility for Health & Safety issues, reporting dangers promptly.
16. Help residents with personal care, mobility, and use of aids and equipment.
17. Maintain good standards of food presentation, hygiene, and cleanliness.
18. Prepare and serve meals, assist residents, and manage kitchen duties.
19. Inspect, mend, launder, and iron residents' clothing.
20. Greet visitors and answer calls appropriately.
21. Assist professionals such as nurses, physiotherapists, and chiropodists.
22. Read and write reports, participate in meetings and training.
23. Follow all communications and instructions.
24. Report changes in residents' conditions to the Nurse in Charge/Manager.
25. Record incidents, complaints, and comments, and take appropriate actions.
26. Care for residents' property and equipment, reporting any issues.
27. Maintain infection control standards, including cleaning spills as needed.
