Who We Are
As NHS Scotland's unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NHS 24 is a patient-focused service providing the people of Scotland with triage, advice, guidance, referral and information on health and healthcare services.
Our Regional Centres are located at Hillington, Cardonald, Clydebank, South Queensferry, Dundee and Aberdeen. This post will be based in our Cardonald Regional Centre. Hybrid Working is supported with this role.
The Role
The post holder will join the enhanced psychology pathway within NHS 24’s Psychological Services, delivering digitally enabled, evidence-based psychological therapies to adults experiencing moderate mental health or physical health difficulties. This primarily involves individual clinical work via NearMe or telephone, with potential future opportunities for group interventions. The role includes managing a personal caseload using evidence-based techniques, maintaining clinical records, and collaborating with clinical psychology colleagues and other health professionals. Additionally, the post holder will contribute to training, supervision, service delivery, and evaluation activities to support the ongoing development of psychological therapy expertise within NHS 24.
Working Hours
The operational hours are Monday to Friday 9am to 9pm and Saturday 10am to 6pm. You will be required to be fully flexible within these hours. An example rota is included in the Job Pack.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide evaluation of therapeutic interventions in relation to change over treatment time that might involve a number of dimensions such as behaviour change, cognitive and emotional change.
* Maintain a high level of proficiency in the use of psychological assessment tools and protocols, apply these appropriately and relevantly in clinical case management and incorporate developments in these as they are introduced to clinical practice.
* Communicate through written reports and/or verbal feedback, the formulation and psychological understanding of a patient’s disorder to referrers, patients and other involved disciplines or agencies.
* Assess the pre-disposing and precipitating factors that give rise to patients’ presenting problems and develop this into a formulation. Assessment measures will include established psychological measures, and measurement of emotional state, cognitions, and behaviour through digital delivery. In addition, assessment will include self-motivating strategies for clients.
Successful Applicant will:
* Be qualified with an honour’s degree in Psychology (eligible for GBR) and a postgraduate MSc Psychological Therapies in Primary Care
* Demonstrate experience in a range of mental health presentations and an ability to understand a range of clinical presentations including mild to moderate
* Show willingness and competence to effectively deliver psycho-educational materials to patients, other health care staff and third sector colleagues
* Be accreditable or accredited with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)
* Experience of delivering digital therapies and offering treatment appointments remotely over near me would be advantageous
