About the Role
As part of the Product Engineering department at Stafford Engine Centre (SEC), you will be involved in strategic projects related to Diesel and Gas Internal Combustion Engines. The placement spans 12 months, commencing July 2026, and focuses on engineering design, testing, development and service tasks.
Responsibilities
* Design Engineering – component and system CAD design, DFMEAs, DVPRs, engineering change management, and solving real-world problems on large engines.
* Testing Engineering – build, instrument, and test large engines; manage data acquisition, test-bed controls, data quality, and test methodology.
* Development Engineering – engine performance and emissions calibration, component validation, failure analysis, and first‑response management.
* Service Engineering – investigation and resolution of customer field issues, root‑cause analysis, supplier liaison, and diagnostic‑support collaboration.
Qualifications
* Minimum of a 2:2 honours degree level in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Motorsport, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Automotive, Mechatronics, Systems).
* Penultimate year of study (or integrated master’s program) required for 12‑month placement commencement.
* Strong data analysis and reporting skills, focus on quality and safety, decision‑making, initiative, innovation, project leadership, planning, communication, and teamwork.
* Evidence of problem‑solving abilities and a willingness to learn quickly.
Recruitment Process

* Video Interview – user‑friendly online interview to assess fit.
* Assessment Centre – 1st week of February 2026 at Stafford; behaviours assessed include teamwork, decision‑making, communication, and problem‑solving.
* Offer – reviewed promptly after the centre; placement starts 6th July 2026.
Additional Information
Candidates may also be considered for graduate development or summer work placements based on performance and a minimum 2:2 requirement at graduation.
