Overview
This is an NHS Locum post based at Stratheden hospital, Cupar. The role provides physical healthcare to patients across Mental Health older adult and specialist (Rehabilitation and Forensic) inpatient wards and requires liaison with the wider multidisciplinary team.
The established MDT includes Psychiatry, Nursing, Clinical Psychology, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Dietetic, Pharmacy and Art Psychotherapy.
Responsibilities
* Undertake 6 clinical sessions per week at Stratheden hospital.
* Each clinical session will be for a time period of 4 hours.
* Monitor and manage long term health conditions.
* Review of patients identified through passport to health screening.
* Annual physical review for long stay patients.
* Completion of medical reports for Care Programme Approach/Case Review Meetings.
* Undertake onward referral to appropriate health related services when required.
* Arrange relevant tests and investigations to aid diagnosis where required.
* Record details of reviews and medical plans in individual patient medical records.
* Write up individual drug prescriptions as required.
* Provide GP-related advice on patient care to staff working within Stratheden Hospital.
* Liaise with family and carers, as required.
* Seek advice from Mental Health Consultants as required.
* Support Mental Health Consultants in aspects of patient physical health.
Qualifications and requirements
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly CESR) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training and that they have the knowledge, skills and experience required for practising as an eligible specialist in the UK.
