Accounts Team Manager - Payroll and Billing
Our organisation provides healthcare and support to people throughout NZ. We are seeking an Accounts Manager to join the team.
Position Details
Based in our Christchurch Office, we are looking for an experienced, organised, and tech-savvy individual to ensure the accurate and timely completion of payroll and billing tasks while maintaining compliance with legislative requirements and company policies. This role reports to the Group Financial Controller.
Key Duties
* Provide professional support, mentorship, and management to all staff reporting to this role.
* Develop in-depth knowledge of the payroll system, troubleshoot, and resolve issues as they arise.
* Ensure legislative compliance in all payroll processes, applying expert payroll knowledge.
* Serve as the payroll legislation expert for the business.
* Ensure weekly payroll and billing are completed accurately and on time.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Act as the point of contact for escalated payroll queries.
* Identify and streamline daily processes as needed.
* Perform general accounting tasks.
Skills and Experience
* 5+ years of experience in a payroll role.
* Experience managing a successful team in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive, organised, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Experience with complex/multi-award payroll systems (Healthcare experience is an advantage).
* Great attention to detail.
* Excellent prioritization skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
* Thorough knowledge of NZ payroll legislation.
* Understanding of databases, with ability to critically screen data for discrepancies.
* Excellent MS Excel skills.
* Knowledge of billing processes.
* Some familiarity with accounting systems and practices.
* Use of Xero software is an advantage.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
