Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Office of the Chief Executive and the Chair of the Trust as a Corporate Governance Officer.
This role is integral to support further development of this key corporate service and provide an exemplary service to the Chief Executive and the Chair to ensure a smooth running and high performance of their areas of responsibility at the Trust. Reporting to the Deputy Trust Secretary, you will deliver work as part of the Corporate Governance Team.
This is a busy and high-profile service, where you will work closely with the Deputy Trust Board Secretary in providing a high-quality, responsive, and modern corporate governance function.
Whilst the role will predominantly be working from home, there is an expectation that the successful candidate will be required to attend our main offices (New Mill in Saltaire) at least one day per week. The day(s) when the successful candidate is required to be in the office will usually coincide with a day when the Committee is meeting.

Main duties of the job
This prestigious role builds on the developments of a highly successful and well-respected service and will support continuous improvement with the Trust. Working closely with the Deputy Trust Secretary, to support them in the delivery of the corporate governance duties that provides assurance that the Trust is operating within legislation, regulation and to good governance standards. You will build and maintain strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders and colleagues, including the Board of Directors; Council of Governors; place and system partners; and colleagues across the Trust.
You should be a proactive individual with a positive ‘can do’ attitude, who is personable and able to respond to a variety of competing priorities and areas of responsibility. We are looking for someone that can bring a wealth of direct or comparable experience of working with a variety of stakeholders, responsibility for delivery corporate governance duties, and providing specialist professional support to the Board of Directors in a fast-paced environment. You will be part of an established service and will act as a role model not only for the teams but also for colleagues across the Trust, championing the Trust’s values and contributing to the delivery of the better lives, together strategic vision.

* Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
Experience
* Significant experience of working to delivering a high-quality corporate governance service
* Formal minute taking of complex meetings
* Experience of dealing with difficult situations
* Experience of the NHS
* Prioritising, planning and organising own and other tasks
* In depth knowledge of current issues facing the NHS nationally and locally, specifically in relation to foundation trusts
Knowledge
* Good working knowledge of office procedures and all Microsoft office packages
* Highly developed organisational skills
* Attention to detail and high quality of work
* Excellent knowledge of corporate governance within the public sector
* Confidentiality and data protection processes and procedures
* Ability to provide cover for the Deputy Trust Secretary ensuring the smooth running of corporate governance functions during absences
