Overview
Senior Children and Young People’s Link Worker role at Sunderland Counselling Service (SCS). Fixed term for one year. 37.5 hours per week. Location: Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Salary: £38,682 per annum (AfC Band 6 comparable). Application deadline: 24 October 2025. Based in Sunderland.

Responsibilities
* Manage the CYP link workers and adult Listening Ear workers, providing regular line management and caseload management support.
* Coordinate and promote the service in collaboration with the SCS senior team.
* Carry a small client caseload and conduct assessments of need, providing support and guidance to clients referred to the service.
* Provide direct emotional, social or practical support, signposting, self-help materials, a check-in system, and identify suitable packages of specific support and onward referrals.
* Deliver services flexibly in confidential settings, including home visits, GP surgeries and other community venues in Sunderland and South Tyneside.
* Travel as needed with travel expenses provided.
What we are looking for
* Experience in line management and caseload management.
* Ability to work within a social prescribing model for children, young people and families.
* Strong assessment, guidance and signposting skills; ability to work collaboratively with primary care and mental health services.
* Ability to deliver services across multiple venues, including home-based and community settings.
* Reliable transport access and willingness to travel.
Notes
This role is not a crisis service or a clinical intervention and does not include care planning or case management functions that must be provided by clinical staff.
