Alexander Steele are working in partnership with a well-established food manufacturing business in Derbyshire who are looking to recruit a Project Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and technically skilled engineer with experience managing multi‑discipline projects from concept through to delivery within a fast‑paced FMCG or manufacturing environment. You will lead a variety of engineering and site improvement projects ranging in value and complexity, ensuring work is completed safely, on time and within budget. Roles & Responsibilities Project management – Lead engineering projects from initiation through to completion, managing timelines, budgets (£5,000–£200,000) and resources effectively. Multi‑project coordination – Simultaneously oversee multiple ongoing projects, ensuring prioritisation, alignment with business needs and minimal disruption to operations. Technical delivery – Work with internal teams and external contractors to deliver engineering improvements, facility upgrades, equipment installations and process enhancements. Stakeholder engagement – Communicate project progress, risks and mitigation plans clearly with site leadership, operations, production and external vendors. Health & Safety – Ensure all project activities are conducted in line with company safety policies and industry regulations. Promote a safe working culture across projects. Budget control – Monitor project financials, identify cost‑saving opportunities and ensure value is achieved on all engineering initiatives. Documentation & reporting – Prepare project documentation, technical specifications, risk assessments and regular progress reports for senior management. Continuous improvement – Identify opportunities to enhance plant reliability, increase efficiency and support long‑term strategic initiatives. Requirements Proven experience as an engineer with project delivery within a manufacturing or FMCG environment (preferred) Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects Excellent technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical and operational systems Experience working with contractors, vendors and cross‑functional teams Strong communication, planning and organisational skills Proactive problem solver with a “hands‑on” approach Proficiency with project management tools and Microsoft Office On Offer Salary up to £65,000 per annum Monday to Friday working pattern Reporting into the Operations Director Projects range from £5,000 to £200,000 in value Opportunity to work across diverse capital and improvement projects Supportive and collaborative management team If this role sounds of interest, or you require further information, please apply with your most up‑to‑date CV and I will be in touch.
