Multi-Skilled Technician – Metropolitan Police Special Events Contract
Salary: £32, base + overtime
Contract: London Metropolitan Police – Special Events Division
Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 16:00
Location: Office-based in New Addington (CR0), with regular travel across Greater London as required
Security Clearance: Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain CTC Security Clearance due to the sensitive nature of the role.
About the Special Events Contract
This is a unique and dynamic contract that supports the Metropolitan Police Service in delivering operational and public safety services for special events across London. Activities include:
1. Supporting pre-planned events, ceremonial occasions, demonstrations, and responses to major incidents
2. Deploying and maintaining temporary infrastructure, including signage, traffic management systems, street furniture, and crime scene equipment
3. Providing engineering and procurement services for temporary utilities such as power, lighting, and water
4. Assisting with evidence preservation, access and egress management, and logistical support to ensure public safety

Key Responsibilities
5. Undertake a wide range of general maintenance tasks, repairs, and inspections as required
6. Provide administrative support by accurately completing reports and job details, ensuring all Work Orders are signed off and returned promptly for processing
7. Support operational teams and other trades, assisting as directed by your line manager
8. Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance in line with contractual obligations
9. Work in a safe manner at all times, adhering to Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental policies, and actively promoting a zero-accident culture
10. Undertake manual handling tasks, work at heights, and in confined spaces (as permitted and trained)
What We're Looking For
11. Physically fit and comfortable working in varied and sometimes challenging environments
12. Good problem-solving skills with a flexible, adaptable approach
13. Strong communication and customer service skills
14. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider operational team
15. Previous experience in building services, facilities management, or a similar multi-trade maintenance role would be desirable
16. Basic competency in at least one trade areas would be desirable
17. Full UK driving licence essential
18. Willingness to undergo extended security clearance
