In-house Lawyer Recruiter. CEOs and GCs appoint me to build their legal and compliance teams from the top down. A former lawyer with 30+ years in the…

In-house Legal Counsel

* Remote / Hybrid, UK

The Company

Titania is a fast-growing UK technology company at the forefront of cybersecurity with a mission to enable organisations to proactively secure their critical network infrastructure.

Our multi-award-winning risk-based vulnerability management (RBVM) and network exposure management software has been used by elite cyber teams for over a decade to safeguard critical infrastructure. Our Nipper solutions accurately prevent attacks and network disruptions by transforming the readiness, resilience and recoverability of critical network infrastructure. With a growing international customer base and ambitious plans for expansion, we’re looking to build a legal function with the recruitment of our first in-house counsel, who will be a commercially-minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with the business.

The Role

As sole legal counsel, reporting to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for a broad range of legal matters, with a primary focus on commercial contracts. You’ll be the go-to legal advisor across the business — providing pragmatic, commercially-minded advice while managing legal risk and enabling growth.

This is a hands-on, autonomous role suited to a lawyer with solid commercial experience and a desire to build something from the ground up.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing legal precision with commercial pragmatism, and who thrives in a fast-paced, tech-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Own the contract lifecycle: draft, review, and negotiate customer, supplier, partnership, consultancy and licensing agreements (B2B SaaS, MSAs, NDAs, DPAs, etc.)
* Act as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders on legal and commercial risk
* Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Operations teams to support strategic deals and daily commercial activity across different geos
* Create and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and policies to streamline legal processes
* Monitor and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory obligations, particularly around data protection (GDPR),
* Collaborate with external counsel as needed for niche areas (e.g. employment)
* Advise on other legal areas as they arise, including IP, employment, corporate governance, and regulatory issues
* Contribute to strategic decision-making at the leadership level and embed legal thinking into the business culture

Candidate Profile

Ideally:

* UK-qualified solicitor with 4+ years PQE, with strong commercial/contracts experience.
* Background in private practice, in-house, or both. Applications are welcome from both corporate / commercial generalists and commercial technology / telecoms lawyers.
* Experience in a technology company is advantageous, but not essential if you can demonstrate relevant commercial awareness and an interest in the cybersecurity sub-niche in particular.
* Confidence to work independently in a sole counsel role, while knowing when to escalate or seek external advice.
* Experience with B2B software/SaaS contracting, including international deals and data processing arrangements.
* Comfortable advising on a broad range of issues beyond contracts (e.g. IP, data privacy, corporate governance).
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to build trusted relationships across the business.
* Commercial mindset with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.
* Entrepreneurial spirit — you enjoy building processes, not just following them.

Advantageous

* Exposure to startup/scale-up environments.
* Experience implementing or using contract management tools.
* Support internal compliance initiatives (e.g. data protection, AI/technology, cybersecurity regulation) in partnership with relevant teams.
* Keep up-to-date with legal developments affecting the technology sector, particularly in the UK and EU.
