Sandwell Council is strengthening its borough-wide Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Service as part of a major investment to deliver earlier intervention, proportionate enforcement and improved outcomes for victims and communities.
We are recruiting two part-time Restorative Justice Officers (18.5 hours each) to embed restorative justice, mediation and victim support within our ASB service.
These roles are central to preventing escalation, repairing harm and supporting residents to resolve conflict safely and constructively.
What You Will Do:
Facilitate restorative justice conferences (face-to-face or shuttle) where appropriate and safe
Deliver impartial mediation in neighbour and community disputes
Complete proportionate risk assessments and agree safety and reassurance plans
Provide trauma-informed support and clear communication to victims and participants
Draft time-bound reparation and behaviour agreements
Monitor compliance and escalate concerns appropriately
We are seeking skilled facilitators who can demonstrate:
Experience delivering restorative justice and/or mediation
Ability to assess suitability, risk and safeguarding needs
Strong facilitation and de-escalation skills
Clear, empathetic communication and impartiality
Accurate record-keeping and confidence using case management systems
You must be able to work flexibly, including occasional evenings, and travel across the borough. The role involves lone working and working with sensitive and complex situations.
