Teachmatch are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to join our primary school client on a 0.4 part-time contract. This is a highly rewarding role, supporting pupils with complex and severe special educational needs, including but not limited to autism, communication difficulties, sensory needs, and profound learning difficulties. Working closely with a dedicated support team, you will plan and deliver tailored, high-quality teaching and interventions that meet each pupil's individual needs. You will be responsible for creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that promotes progress in academic, social, and emotional development. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver differentiated and meaningful lessons for pupils with a wide range of complex SEN Use a variety of communication methods and visual aids to engage learners (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC) Create and maintain a positive, structured, and sensory-friendly classroom environment Lead and support a team of teaching assistants within the classroom Develop and review EHCP targets in collaboration with families, therapists, and external agencies Track and assess pupil progress using appropriate assessment tools for SEN learners Contribute to team meetings, reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of all pupils at all times What We're Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Proven experience working with children with complex or severe SEN, preferably in a primary setting Sound knowledge of strategies to support pupils with autism, communication disorders, and sensory needs A nurturing, patient, and flexible approach to teaching Excellent teamwork and communication skills A commitment to inclusive education and positive behaviour support
