As a Catering/Laundry Assistant at Sodexo, located at 72 Cranbree Avenue, Edinburgh EH16 6FF, you will ensure the provision of high-quality, person-centred, and safe catering services for Patients, Staff, and Visitors. Your responsibilities include assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in kitchens and dining areas, supporting meal production, portioning, distribution, and service.
Your duties are defined by the cleaning specifications and work schedule, typically involving activities across various areas within your shift. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering excellent catering services and linen and laundry services in high-activity areas.

What You’ll Do:
1. Arrive punctually in a clean, ironed Sodexo uniform and clock in.
2. Maintain personal hygiene and adhere to Food Safety Act guidelines.
3. Provide professional service to patients, staff, and visitors.
4. Clean crockery, cutlery, utensils, and equipment by hand or machine.
5. Clean floors, surfaces, furnishings, and related equipment.
6. Assist with basic food prep, including preparing and presenting sandwiches.
7. Make and deliver tea runs to wards and departments.
8. Prepare ward food trolleys and deliver meals as needed.
9. Follow food hygiene rules, keep areas and equipment clean, and complete HACCP paperwork.
10. Adhere to all health and safety, manual handling, fire, and infection control procedures.
11. Report faults, maintenance needs, and PPE requirements to supervisors.
12. Ensure security by locking doors and windows.
13. Assist relief staff as needed.
14. Store and rotate stock properly.
15. Participate in Performance and Development Reviews.
16. Maintain confidentiality of all information.
17. Support company values: quality, teamwork, care, compassion, dignity, respect, honesty, and responsibility.
18. Clean spillages immediately and use warning signs.
Sewing Tasks:
* Repair and alter uniforms.
* Label patient clothing and linen.
* Mend curtains as required.
* Keep linen stores stocked and tidy.
* Maintain exchange trolleys.
What You Bring:
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Customer care skills.
* Basic literacy and numeracy.
* Knowledge from induction and training programs.
* Manual Handling and Fire Awareness training.
* Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate within 6 months.
* Knowledge of procedures, equipment, and safety policies.
* Ability to operate machinery safely.
* Understanding of Infection Control policies.
