Trainee Estimator – Façade, Curtain Walling & Aluminium Glazing Systems
We are recruiting a Trainee Estimator to join a busy façade and building envelope team. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded candidate with hands‑on estimating experience and a desire to progress into a senior estimating role. You will support and lead tender activity for high‑value projects involving curtain walling, windows, doors and full building envelope solutions.
Key responsibilities
* Support and lead high-value tender submissions for façade, curtain walling and aluminium glazing projects
* Prepare accurate take‑offs, cost estimates, bills of quantities and tender documents
* Interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications to develop scope, materials and installation methodology
* Liaise with suppliers, subcontractors and design teams to obtain quotations and clarify technical queries
* Carry out value engineering, risk analysis and cost benchmarking to produce competitive and compliant bids
* Attend site surveys and pre‑tender meetings as required
* Maintain estimating databases, tender registers and document control
* Work under the mentorship of senior estimators and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes
Essential skills and experience
* Proven experience leading high-value tenders within façade, curtain walling, or aluminium glazing systems
* Strong technical knowledge of curtain walling, windows, doors and building envelope solutions
* Ability to interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with take‑off and estimating software
* Strong commercial awareness, attention to detail and numerical accuracy
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Willingness to visit sites and attend project meetings
Desirable
* Experience with AutoCAD/Revit or other drawing software
* Formal qualification in construction, engineering or surveying (or equivalent industry experience)
* Knowledge of UK building regulations and relevant standards for façades and glazing
