About the Role
The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for auditing, verifying, and qualifying new and existing suppliers. This role ensures compliance with industry and regulatory standards through detailed assessments based on ISO 9001 and ISO 3834.
Responsibilities
1. Supplier Qualification and Auditing: Conduct in-depth assessments to qualify new suppliers and ensure existing ones meet the required standards.
2. Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor supplier approvals, certifications, and performance to identify areas for improvement.
3. Development and Management: Work closely with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and process capability.
4. Troubleshooting: Drive root cause analysis, corrective, and preventive actions (8D) to address issues promptly.
5. Quality Support: Review supplier documentation, including weld procedures, inspection reports, and material certificates.
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, quality engineering, management, or a related field.
* Significant experience as a supplier quality engineer in a manufacturing, HVAC, or process plant environment.
* Strong auditing skills in ISO 9001, ISO 3834, and Pressure Equipment Directive (PED).
* Technical knowledge of fabrication, welding, CNC machining, assemblies, and related quality inspection techniques.
* Full UK driver's license.
* Willingness to travel to supplier sites.
* Certified lead auditor or internal auditor (e.g., IRCA certified).
* Experience with APQP, PPAP, 8D, FMEA.
