Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Salary: from £23, to £26, per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 37 hours per week (Standard working hours are 7:30 - 3:30 from Monday to Friday, but flexible working is available)
Location: MoD Corsham, Building, Corsham, Wiltshire, England, SN13 9ET
Based at MOD Corsham in Wiltshire, Mitie are looking for a full time Grounds Maintenance Operative to carry out general grounds maintenance tasks and reactive jobs.
You will work in a small, dedicated team, driven to deliver exceptional service every day to our clients. You will need to be reliable, adaptable, professional, & able to prioritise workloads. Safe working and adherence to risk assessments is absolutely critical.
Standard working hours are 7:30 – 3:30 M-F, but flexible working is available.
Starting salary is Real Living Wage, with a progression pathway to a maximum of £31K. Performance-based raises are given annually. In addition you can expect to earn £2, pa from overtime and on-call.
Requirements
1. Proof of right to work in the UK (UK passport or residence permit)
2. Full UK driver's licence
3. MOD security clearance (This will be paid for by Mitie. Spent criminal convictions are not necessarily a barrier to obtaining security clearance.)
4. Willingness to work out-of-doors in all weather
5. A responsible mindset and safe approach to work
Primary Responsibilities:
6. Grass cutting, strimming, leaf blowing/collection
7. General gardening, including weeding, watering, and mulching
8. Winter road maintenance, including gritting and snow clearance
9. Sports pitch marking and maintenance
10. Hedge cutting
11. On call as required for winter road clearance
12. Day-to-day maintenance (cleaning, sharpening, tightening, inspecting) of hand and power tools, including mowers, strimmers, gritters, vehicles, and others
13. Special projects and reactive work involving hard landscaping, trees, etc.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
14. Mechanical knowledge and experience of maintaining grounds equipment
15. Basic horticultural knowledge, including plant ID and care
16. Ability to work with minimal supervision to a high standard
Bonus points if you have:
17. Chainsaw maintenance and operator's certificate
18. Experience of turf maintenance
19. Pesticide Spraying Qualifications: PA1 safe handling & application of pesticides, PA6 hand-held applicators on land, and/or PA2 Boom Sprayer.
