An opportunity has arisen for a Chief Operations Officer seeking a new challenge within the dynamic, fast-moving environment of this growing business.
About the role
This role is a Board level position responsible for leading and directing all operational activities within the business to ensure that the overall company objectives are met efficiently and effectively. The role will oversee all aspects of operations, including Purchasing, Warehousing and Distribution, Order Management, New Product Project Management, Supply and Demand Planning, Production Planning (including 3rd Party Contracts), and Product Compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Collaborate with other Board members to manage daily operations and define strategic direction, including long-term planning and setting corporate objectives.
2. Set strategic objectives and deliver key results for operational activities to drive business growth and profitability against targets.
3. Proactively manage compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
4. Implement a fully functional international multi-site fulfillment operation supporting the company's strategic goals.
5. Provide dynamic leadership to a diverse team of senior managers, ensuring efficient and effective functioning of each discipline within operations, fostering collaboration and coordination.
6. Continuously evaluate business procedures' efficiency and implement improvements to optimize productivity using KPIs and data analysis.
7. Control costs and achieve cost savings across operations, particularly in distribution and procurement, to support budget targets.
8. Ensure all customer-facing elements of operations deliver exceptional service.
9. Monitor the international environment to identify and develop solutions for opportunities and challenges in the macro-economic landscape.
10. Manage business risks effectively and implement measures to mitigate potential threats.
11. Maintain effective engagement and communication within the operations team to foster ownership, continuous improvement, and development.
12. Represent the company on operational issues, staying informed of latest developments.
Experience & Skills
* Degree-level education.
* Proven leadership with a passion for strategic initiatives, process optimization, and people development.
* Ability to collaborate with senior management and board members.
* Financial acumen with experience in budget management, P&L, and balance sheet activities.
* Experience managing and optimizing inventory levels related to demand and budget control.
* Strong system and analytical skills.
* Skilled negotiator.
* Energetic communicator capable of engaging internal and external stakeholders.
* Extensive operations management experience in an FMCG or similar environment.
* In-depth knowledge of operations functions including Purchasing, Warehousing, Distribution, Order Management, Project Management, Supply and Demand Planning, Production Planning, and Product Compliance.
* Experience working in an international context.
* Proactive problem-solver with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
* Resilient with the ability to make informed decisions in a dynamic environment.
* Mentor capable of leading teams to deliver outstanding results.
* Experience establishing and managing international multi-site fulfillment for B2C and B2B customers.
* Experience coordinating compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
