Sophisticated frauds, involving grooming of targeted individuals, show the fake recruiter asking the unsuspecting job seeker to take part in a fake job interview, either over the phone or via WhatsApp, and also sending fraudulent follow-up correspondence offering job positions. Any communication about jobs at Oxford University Hospitals will come from 'Trac', or via an ouh.nhs.uk email address.

All meetings and interviews will be scheduled on Microsoft Teams from a verified OUH email account.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Locum Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist (grade 8a-8b) to join the Clinical Neuropsychology service at the Oxford Centre for Enablement (the OCE) for a period of 12 months. The OCE is an NHSE Level 1 specialist in-patient rehabilitation unit serving the Wessex region. The post holder will join an established and well-integrated team of Clinical Neuropsychologists working at the OCE, where psychological input is highly valued. The OCE Neuropsychology team is part of the Oxford Psychological Medicine Centre that provides an integrated psychology and psychiatry service across the OUH Trust. The post holders will join a team of 30 other clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists working in a range of specialties across the four OUH hospitals. We are looking for an experienced Clinical Psychologist/Neuropsychologist, who enjoys working as part of a team.


Main duties of the job

You will, in collaboration with the Lead Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist for the in-patient service, another Clinical Neuropsychologist and two assistant psychologists, contribute to the provision of a high-quality, evidence-based psychological service to the in-patient neuro-rehabilitation team. The role will include direct clinical input to patients with the most complex levels of neurological disability and their families and carers, extensive working within the MDT, clinical supervision, teaching and staff training.

As such you should have significant experience of working within a neurorehabilitation / neuropsychology setting, be proficient in a wide range of neuropsychological assessments and delivering direct and indirect neuropsychological interventions in the context of an MDT. You will also have significant experience of managing complex clinical problems, including risk assessments, mental capacity assessments and managing behaviour that is challenging.

Clinical supervision, peer support, and regular opportunities for CPD are valued and supported within our team. We have close links with the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training and regularly provide specialist clinical placements and doctoral research supervision. Person specification


Qualifications / Training

* Doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, or a statement of equivalency in clinical psychology awarded by the BPS Committee for Scrutiny of Individual Clinical Qualifications (CSICQ) for those with qualifications obtained overseas
* Full member of the BPS Division of Neuropsychology
* Post-doctoral and post graduate training/ study in neuropsychology or applied neuroscience
* Member of the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists held by the BPS.


Other

* Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
* Evidence of delivering invited presentations at key neuropsychological conferences/meetings.
* Record of having published in peer reviewed or academic or professional journals and/or books.


Skills & Knowledge

* Highly developed theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in the use of complex methods of neuropsychological assessment, intervention and management with service users with complex neurological conditions.
* Highly developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex, multivariate data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
* Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings.
* High-level knowledge of the theory and practice of at least two specialised psychological therapies.
* Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in ‘specific and difficult to treat’ groups (e.g. personality disorder, challenging behaviour, dual diagnoses, people with additional disabilities, functional overlay and/ or functional neurological conditions).


Experience

* Significant experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist in in-patient neuro-rehabilitation settings
* Experience of delivering direct and indirect highly specialist neuropsychological assessment and treatments.
* Experience of working with clients presenting with complex neuro-disability across the whole life course, and their families presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
* Experience of applying the mental capacity act in the context of brain injury and management of risk
* Relevant post-qualification experience of providing clinical supervision of other clinical psychologists, including trainee and assistant psychologists in Clinical Neuropsychological practice.
* Experience of working within a MDT and chairing complex treatment planning / discharge meetings with team member and patients.
* Evidence of working as a qualified Clinical Psychologist in outpatient or community-based neuropsychology services.
* Evidence of experience in service development within neuro rehabilitation service contexts


Personal

* Ability to interact effectively with staff from all disciplines.
* Ability to interact and to build and sustain relationships with people with acquired brain injuries and their families.
* Is a team player and has demonstrated ability to work and deliver to team and organisational objectives.

* Adaptable and able to work flexibly when required (e.g. in the light of service priorities) Ability to work independently, reliably and consistently, and with initiative in circumstances where the post holder has discretion to work within team and Trust policies, service principles, professional codes of practice and other appropriate parameters, and to determine how objectives agreed with manager are best achieved.
* Capacity for tolerating frustration, change and high levels of demand with an ability to work effectively under pressure.
* Ability to accept and use clinical supervision appropriately and effectively.
* Access to transport and the ability to travel within the required geographical area


Experience

* Evidence of experience of managing complex ethical and treatment issues in the context of neuropsychological rehabilitation
* Evidence of experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for the psychological care and treatment of referred clients and of supervising MDT members whilst carrying responsibility for the psychological aspects for the MDT care plan.
