We are inviting applications for a Senior Operations Coordinator at the brand-new Bennett School of Public Policy (BSPP), within the Faculty of Human, Social and Political Science at the University of Cambridge. This key role will begin in January 2026.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join a newly established Department which is set to become a world-renowned leader in policy research and education. The BSPP has ambitious growth plans including launching a new M.Phil in Digital Policy alongside an expanded M.Phil in Public Policy, and the development of a new PhD
programme.
The Senior Operations Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the effective and efficient delivery of the School's teaching, learning, and research activities, and responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating operational processes and policies to support academic delivery and research excellence.
- Overseeing administrative support for teaching and learning activities - such as admissions, funding, and supervision of course administrators.
- Coordinating HR-related administration for education-related posts, manage arrangements for visiting scholars and students.
- Supporting departmental governance activities, including the preparation of papers, servicing of committees and representation at relevant meetings.
- Supporting continuous departmental improvement.
This role is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of a growing and forward-looking department and to help shape the operational foundations of its educational and research programmes. You will work closely with academic staff and professional services colleagues at all levels.
The role would suit someone with:
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities and workloads effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across departments, central University services and external partners at all levels.
- Experience overseeing course administrators and support staff.
- Understanding of HR processes (e.g. recruitment, contracts, visiting scholars) within a higher education context.
- Experience in academic administration, including admissions, funding, and student management systems.
- Awareness of committee structures and university governance frameworks.
