Overview
A leading privately owned property investment and asset management company is seeking a Building Surveyor to join their in house property team in Birmingham.
This client side position offers the opportunity to work directly within a major commercial property owner, supporting the management and performance of a substantial UK wide portfolio including retail, office and industrial assets.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise across the lifecycle of assets including acquisitions, asset management initiatives, refurbishment projects and ongoing maintenance. This role offers strong exposure to strategic asset management decisions and the opportunity to work closely with an experienced internal property team.

The position provides exposure to a diverse commercial portfolio and the chance to play a key role in the strategic management of high quality assets across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Asset Management & Technical Advice
• Provide building surveying expertise across a diverse commercial property portfolio
• Support Asset Managers with technical advice to enhance asset performance and value
• Undertake building inspections, condition surveys and defect analysis
• Prepare technical reports and recommend remedial solutions
Project & Refurbishment Delivery
• Manage refurbishment, maintenance and improvement projects across the portfolio
• Oversee consultants and contractors to ensure works are delivered to programme and budget
• Assist with project specification, procurement and contract administration
• Monitor project delivery and quality on site
Planned Maintenance & Compliance
• Assist in developing and implementing planned preventative maintenance programmes
• Ensure properties remain compliant with statutory and health and safety requirements
• Identify capital expenditure requirements and contribute to long term asset planning
Acquisitions & Disposals
• Support technical due diligence for property acquisitions
• Review building condition and identify capital expenditure requirements during transactions
• Provide technical input to support asset repositioning or disposal strategies
Candidate Profile
• Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline
• Ideally MRICS qualified or working towards chartership
• Experience within a property consultancy or client side environment
• Strong technical understanding of commercial property assets
• Experience managing refurbishment, maintenance or improvement projects
• Ability to work collaboratively with asset management and property management teams
• Strong communication and report writing skills
