Job Title: Sheet Metal Worker
Location: Barrow-In-Furness – Based on site full time
Requirements: Apprenticeship Certificate
What you'll be doing:
Fabricate, Assemble and Install sheet metal items
Confidently use of Welding and Fabrication equipment on Astute and/or Dreadnought class submarines whilst they are under construction
Working with Pipe protection, glam plates, small support systems- Bunk spaces
Your Skills and Experience:
Hold NVQ Level 3 in Sheetmetal or Metal Fabrication
Experience in Submarine/Ship Building construction and exposure to industrial sites is key
Additional information:
Before starting you must hold FULL SC- Estimated minimum time scale for this is 6 to 8 weeks
Once you start you will be on a 4 day week, then be moved to a permanent shift patten once training is completed
Training - This is completed over 2 weeks
Test 1: Practical
Steelwork drawings
MMA track welding
Basic Thermal cutting
Test 2: Theory
Abrasive wheels
Pumps & fairing aids
After this you will do the below:
4-5 days induction- this will also cover health and safety
Random drug test may be required prior to starting
Please note this is fully paid for by the client
Potential Shift Patterns: 4 day week followed by 3 on 4 off
You will be required to work various shift patterns (see below) 7 day working arrangements may also apply
