About The Role
The role will be based in Cardiff, Belfast, or Birmingham; however, due to the variety of clients and projects, you may be asked to work in other locations and beyond, sometimes at short notice and sometimes for extended periods. Your willingness and ability to do this will be discussed during recruitment.
The Commercial Cost Modeller focuses on analyzing, developing, and challenging commercial data and models to support evidence-based decision-making. You will support clients in analyzing key commercial data and identifying levers to improve their current models.
Typical Responsibilities
* Analyzing and challenging client/supplier cost models, creating 'should cost' and 'Cost Transformation' models to identify efficiencies, including cost analysis and assessing cost drivers like labor rates, indirect/direct costs, and inflation.
* Analyzing how financial and performance incentives (e.g., pain/gain share, KPIs) influence supplier behavior.
* Supporting negotiations with key suppliers by identifying variances and developing strategies.
* Assisting in business case development using 'should cost' outputs to generate cost ranges for approval.
As a Manager, you will resolve complex problems, guide others, and anticipate future issues. You will oversee the delivery of cost modeling by junior staff, ensuring quality and supporting their development. Additionally, you will contribute to solution design, proposals, and team promotion efforts.
Candidate Profile
* Experience as a Commercial Analyst, Cost Modeller, Cost Engineer, or Management Accountant.
* Knowledge of data modeling and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI, Alteryx).
* Ability to analyze large datasets.
* Strong commercial awareness and cost modeling skills.
* Excellent report writing and communication skills.
* Willingness and eligibility to obtain security clearance.
* Experience in developing modeling capabilities within managed services and team building.
