Start your Communications career with Thames Water
Kick‑start your future as a Communications Assistant Apprentice. You’ll rotate across media, internal comms, marketing, incident comms, local engagement, and public affairs - building broad experience while working toward a Level 4 Public Relations & Communications Assistant qualification.
What you’ll do:
1. Support planning and delivery of internal and external comms campaigns.
2. Draft press releases, newsletters, social posts, and other content.
3. Monitor media coverage and compile summaries.
4. Contribute to digital updates, website content, and creative ideas.
5. Organise comms data and assist with stakeholder activities.
6. Take part in team meetings and ongoing training as you develop your skills.
Where you will work:
Location: Clearwater Court Reading RG1 8DB- Hybrid
Hours: 36 hours a week across four working days plus one off-the-job training day,
Start date: Sept 2026
Training and qualification:
You’ll study with Oxford Professional Education, one of the UK’s leading communications training providers. Your training includes 2 live online workshops per month, supported by a one-to-one monthly trainer meeting with our subject experts.
Qualification: Public relations and communications assistant Level 4 Standard- This aligns with Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) for criteria for Individual Membership.
Duration: Permanent contract with a14–16-month structured programme
What you should bring to the role:
7. Has 5 GCSE Maths and English (grade 9-4 / A-C)
8. 48 UCAS Points from a related subject area
9. Interest in public relations, communications, or media
10. Can manage their time well and stay organised
11. Is passionate about learning and aligned with Thames Water’s goals for the future
