Salary details: Grade 10, £48,227 to £52,414 pay award pending

Hours: 37 hours per week

Doncaster Sheffield Airport is preparing to relaunch, and we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Fire Safety professional to play a key role in the airport’s return to operations.

About the Role
We are seeking a Fire Safety Manager to lead the development, implementation, and day-to-day management of fire safety arrangements across all airport operations. This includes responsibility for fire safety compliance across terminal buildings, airside facilities, infrastructure, and co-operate with third-party occupied premises.
Reporting into the senior safety leadership function, the postholder will ensure that effective fire safety management systems are in place, risks are identified and controlled, and statutory and regulatory requirements are met. You will work closely with operational teams, contractors, tenants, and emergency services to ensure fire safety is fully integrated into airport activities.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and maintaining the airport’s Fire Safety Management System
* Conducting and overseeing fire risk assessments and ensuring actions are completed and assured
* Providing fire safety advice and guidance to operational teams, projects, and third-party operators
* Developing and delivering fire safety training, drills, and exercises
* Monitoring compliance with fire safety legislation, standards, and best practice
* Liaising with enforcing authorities, emergency services, insurers, and other stakeholders
* Supporting incident response arrangements and providing professional fire safety input during emergencies
The successful Candidate:
We are looking for an experienced Fire Safety professional with a strong practical background in managing fire risk within complex, operational environments. You will have a clear understanding of fire safety legislation and the confidence to challenge, influence, and support others to achieve compliance and best practice.
You will be well organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic setting. Strong communication skills are essential, as you will work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, from front-line colleagues to senior managers and external partners.
Experience in an airport, transport, infrastructure, or similarly high-risk environment is highly desirable, as is the ability to operate effectively during periods of operational change and start-up activity.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
For this role, you will need:
* Level 4 Diploma in Fire Risk Assessment (or equivalent).
* Level 3 NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent).
* Demonstrable experience undertaking and managing fire risk assessmentSound knowledge of relevant fire safety legislation and guidance
* Experience delivering fire safety training and emergency exercises
* Strong report writing, organisational, and problem-solving skills
* The ability to work collaboratively while confidently managing compliance
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IFSM, IFE, or similar)
Desirable:
* Experience within aviation, transport, or a complex operational environment
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IFSM, IFE, or similar)
* Teaching or Training Qualification (e.g. PTLLS / AET or equivalent)
* Fire Safety Design of Buildings (BS 9999 and ADB Vol 1 and 2)
