- THE ROLE -
The research team has secured funding from the Medical Research Council (MRC) for the development of a smart wearable device that can monitor the condition of ostomy pouch systems. A full-time position for a researcher with skills in electronic/electrical engineering is available to help pursue the design, development and testing of the proposed device in preparation for its evaluation in patient trials. This is a cross-disciplinary project involving collaboration with both clinical and commercial partners and will involve public-patient interactions throughout the design process. While largely based in Belfast, the post may require travel between the Belfast, Coleraine, and Derry~Londonderry campuses as well as site visits to the collaborating partners.
We may create a 12-month waiting list for the same or similar roles within the Department / Faculty. The University reserves the right to extend the waiting list across the University if required for certain posts.
- ABOUT YOU -
The postholder will be required to have:
- BEng / MEng in Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or Biomedical Engineering.
- Experience in circuit design and testing.
- Evidence of coding experience in relation to microcontrollers.
