Overview
Our Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team is central to Amazon's commitment to innovation. As a Senior RME Technician, you’ll help us stay one step ahead by adopting the latest technologies and identifying new and efficient ways of working. You’ll pay close attention to our processes to help maintain high standards, and you’ll implement upgrades to raise those standards further.
Key responsibilities
* Demonstrate best practice on using equipment safely and monitor teams to ensure everyone follows the correct processes
* Keep track of equipment performance through visual checks, condition-based monitoring, and preventative maintenance tasks and schedule additional servicing when required
* Supervise technicians on shift to support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers
* Solve issues in equipment to reduce downtime for operations so they can process packages as quickly as possible
* Support in finding ways to continually improve systems and standardise processes across the EU network
A day in the life
On each shift, you’ll lead a team to ensure everyone has the equipment they need and that it’s running properly. You’ll monitor processes to ensure regulations and policies are followed and ensure preventative maintenance is carried out to increase equipment uptime. You’ll observe opportunities for improvements, implement them across an EU-wide function, and work with your line manager on admin tasks. This role is located at an operational site and may require shift patterns, including weekends and nights. You’ll have opportunities to progress into more senior roles.
About the team
Our RME team keeps equipment performing at its best. We are technically minded, work well in a team, and are guided by experienced leaders. We maintain, troubleshoot, and repair equipment across Amazon’s global fulfilment network, installing automated systems and maintaining site infrastructure, while ensuring legal compliance and maximum efficiency. There are opportunities for progression within the RME team and across Amazon. Our focus is on reducing downtime to ensure timely customer orders, often requiring night shifts or off-hours maintenance. We may introduce new processes and advanced tech like Amazon Robotics and the Complex Item Sorter.
Basic Qualifications
* A full Engineering indentured Apprenticeship and/or qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant Engineering subject
* Relevant experience in a technical leadership role
* Relevant experience working in both electrical and mechanical disciplines
* Relevant experience in automation or material handling equipment environments
* Advanced proficiency in verbal and written English
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a multi-contractor and multi-site environment
* Understanding of PLC-based controls systems and statutory compliance requirements
* Experience using computerized maintenance management systems to plan proactive maintenance and record reactive tasks
* A degree preferably in a technical discipline or operations
