Purpose of the Role
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will support the commercial team in delivering cost-effective and well-managed utility infrastructure projects. This role offers hands-on experience in the dynamic utilities sector, working closely with project managers and clients to ensure successful project delivery and budget control.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and tender submissions for utility infrastructure projects.
* Support commercial management of live projects, including monthly valuations and payment processing.
* Help procure and manage subcontractor packages.
* Assist in preparing and agreeing final accounts, including claims and variations.
* Gain experience working with NEC and other forms of contract on major frameworks.
* Liaise with site teams, project managers, and clients to provide commercial support.
Key Skills & Experience
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or related construction/engineering field.
* 12 years of experience in a similar role, ideally in civils or utilities (preferred but not essential).
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in industry software and strong Excel skills.
* Proactive, reliable, and eager to learn.

* Accurate and timely cost reporting and valuations.
* Effective support in managing subcontractor packages and final accounts.
* Positive feedback from project managers and clients.
* Contribution to successful project delivery within budget.
* Demonstrated growth and development within the commercial team.
