This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team on daily activities. This role supports regulatory reform and may involve transitioning the regime from reform to ‘business as usual’. The duties include:
* Waste classification technical leadership
* Technical leadership for Hazardous Waste compliance and initiatives to improve compliance
* Enhanced leadership of priority waste streams
* Technical support focusing on priority waste streams, driven by area and national teams
* Tackling regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra with circular economy work
* Enforcement focus to support actions in the control strategy to reduce offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team in E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling.
