Quantity Surveyor
Summary
A principal contractor specialising in railway and civil engineering Is looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their reactive civils team in Sheffield working on various frameworks
The main duties of the role include:
1. Commercial Responsibility for Multiple projects
2. Manage train and provide support to members of the commercial team, carrying out regular job chats, helping to train junior staff through on the job training
3. Provide advice to the commercial team/project staff on site on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence
4. Supply relevant commercial information/reports to the Senior QS, Managing QS, Commercial Director for review
5. Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements
6. Ensure all contract correspondence is recorded and logged
7. Help to develop client relationships, maintaining regular contact and meetings with clients
8. Attend all commercial meetings relevant to multiple projects
9. Monitor contract costs against agreed budgets and the use of cost and financial reporting systems
10. Prepare and submit cash flow forecasting as required
11. Carry out monthly/periodic financial reviews (CVR's) on multiple projects and forecast final outturn values for cost, sales and margin
12. Prepare and submit periodic valuations/application for payments ensuring that Client payment and cash collection is achieved in accordance with the contract
13. Oversee and monitor the process for production and submission of variations/change including maintaining variation/change log
14. Identify potential commercial/financial risk and opportunity and evaluate options to mitigate/realise
15. Oversee and monitor the production, submission and agreement of final accounts in accordance with the contractual requirements
16. Liaise with the Supply Chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of subcontract and Supplier orders
17. Oversee the procedures for certification of contract payments/variations and settling final accounts to sub-contractors in line with agreed terms and conditions
18. Promote and comply with the company safety policy
19. Assist with tenders, both in terms of formulating and review
20. Any other duties as may be reasonably required.
To be successful in the Quantity Surveyor role, you will be able to manage a fast paced, high-volume turnover of orders, with high standards of project performance and customer satisfaction. You will possess the ability to work methodically, using your own initiative and unsupervised, and have a high accuracy and attention to detail.
The perfect candidate will have:
21. HND/HNC Level 4 or equivalent in Quantity Surveying - Essential
22. Degree in Quantity Surveying - Desirable
23. Strong IT Skills, especially Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software - Essential
24. Strong numeracy skills - Essential
25. A minimum of 2-3 years' experience working within a contracting environment - Essential
26. General knowledge of NEC forms of contract - Desirable
27. Experience within the rail sector - Desirable
28. Excellent communication skills and confidence to engage with stakeholders and other team members - Essential
Salary of Between £40,000 - £53,000 (DOE) plus
