Overview

Joining us as a Commercial Finance Business Partner, you’ll become a trusted partner to the sales team, where you’ll influence key operational and strategic decisions. You’ll do this by providing detailed and insightful analysis, commentary, advice, and challenging where appropriate.

This is a key role within the commercial Finance team where you’ll partner with members of the sales team, aligned to one of our grocery retailers you’ll develop an in depth understanding of the business area, reviewing the key levers that influence P&L performance (both internal & external), provide monthly financial analysis, insight and explanation of performance, highlighting emerging issues or trends and making recommendations on corrective actions.

Responsibilities

In brief, you will be responsible for

1. Interpret, translate, and drive performance within the business and explain operational targets into executable in-year plans.
2. Partnering with Sales colleagues to drive actions to meet targets (pricing, promo ROI, sales, margin, variable costs, overheads, EBITDA, working capital, ROI etc)
3. Review actual performance (pricing, promo ROI, sales, margin, variable costs, overheads, EBITDA, working capital, ROI etc) with a view to making recommendations and provoking interventions required to drive down costs, improve margins and convert P&L into cash
4. Own and drive initiatives focused on closing variances with the business.
5. Leverage analyses provided by FP&A to drive business choices, by overlaying the commercial acumen and insight.
6. Work with the management team to define planning assumptions, risks and investment opportunities.

Qualifications

7. Graduate calibre, newly qualified or finalist (ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
8. Previous experience of working in a fast-paced finance team (ideally in a Commercial Finance team)
9. Experience of managing a full P&L and variance analysis, plus KPI reporting.
10. Good Financial analysis experience – you’re used to working with large volume of data and managing large data sets.
11. Good communication and written skills with the ability to engage people at all levels, with the ability to influence business and finance colleagues.
12. Ability to bring multiple stakeholders and conflicting viewpoints to an objective resolution.
13. Constructively challenge assumptions and thinking.
