Essex and Suffolk Elective Orthopaedic Centre (ESEOC), situated in the Dame Clare Marx Building, is set to open its doors in 2024. This cutting-edge facility will specialize in elective Orthopaedic surgery and Orthopaedic day cases.
With eight laminar flow theatres, three wards, recovery facilities, and comprehensive support services, ESEOC is poised to become one of the largest centres of its kind in Europe. The Centre is committed to delivering high-volume, low-complexity cases locally, fostering excellence, and contributing to education, training, and research in the field.
The quality of patient care and efficient use of all operating theatres is wholly dependent on the effective utilisation of clinical resources. As Theatre Lead, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the clinical management of the Orthopaedic theatres.
Main duties of the job
You should be a registered nurse or a healthcare professional with either NMC or HCPC ODP registration. A post graduate qualification in management would be desirable.
Key Responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the Matron in optimising the operational management of theatres including the management of senior staff
2. Co-ordinating the provision of a timely, high standard, cost effective and safe theatre service, developing collaborative relationships between the multi-professional team and geographical areas, which supports the patients journey
3. Working under the direction of the Matron to ensure that through continuous quality assurance, services are modernised to provide a positive patient experience and improve staff satisfaction
4. Under the guidance of the matron, work alongside the Student Facilitator and Training and Education

5. oBSc (Hons ) Operating Department Practice or RGN/Dip. HE, NVQ III in Operating Department Practice/C&G 752 or Dip. HE Operating Department Practice
6. oCurrent registration of professional body
7. oMentorship in Public Health (998) or comparable educational mentorship qualification

8. oEducated to Master Degree Level in relevant subject or equivalent experience.
9. oAdvanced Scrub Competencies
10. oCertificate in Management Skills or comparable management qualification
