We are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming, family-run care home for a 2nd / Sous Chef. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated chef to join a supportive team, working Monday to Friday and weekends, with shifts and hours flexible to suit your availability.
Shifts & Hours
· Weekdays: 8am – 3pm or 3pm – 8pm
· Weekends: 8am – 2pm or 3pm – 8pm
· From 30 hours per week, with shift patterns discussed at interview
Role Overview
Reporting to the Head Chef, you will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality, nutritious meals for residents. You will deputise for the Head Chef in their absence and ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist in menu planning and meal preparation
· Ordering and stock management
· Maintain high standards of food hygiene and health & safety
· Support the team in delivering freshly prepared, nutritious meals
· Deputise for the Head Chef when required
· Assist in training or supervising kitchen staff as needed
Skills & Experience
· Previous experience in a similar role (care home or hospitality preferred)
· Good knowledge of menu planning, ordering, and stock control
· Understanding of health & hygiene standards and health & safety regulations
· Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team
· Passionate about providing high-quality meals for residents
