Applications are invited for the post of Assistant Professor of Bladder Cancer (Honorary Consultant Urologist), Department of Surgery. This position offers an excellent opportunity to conduct high-quality research within a distinguished academic and clinical environment. Applicants should hold GMC specialist registration or be eligible for entry on the Register, or within six months of receiving a certificate of completion of training at the time of interview. Medical defence cover is also required for the duration of the appointment.
Candidates should possess clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for the UK certificate of completion of training in urology, with a focus on bladder cancer treatment, as well as general urology and on-call duties. A PhD/DPhil/MD is required at the time of application. Candidates should demonstrate a developing bibliography of research publications, a track record of securing research funding, and expertise in clinical trial conduct.
The successful candidate will be appointed on the Clinical Consultant scale for Assistant Professors (Honorary Consultant Urologist) and can commence the role as soon as possible. The appointment is subject to a five-year probationary period. This is an integrated appointment with the University and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, requiring an Honorary Clinical Contract issued by the NHS Trust. Termination of the NHS contract will also terminate university employment.
