Head of Legal Location: Brighton (2 days per week in office, 3 days working from home) Department: Finance Reports to: Chief Financial Officer Direct reports: Legal Counsel Position type: Full time, Permanent MPB are on the search for a Head of Legal to lead MPB’s global legal function, from our Brighton HQ! This is a high-impact role at the heart of our business, providing strategic and day-to-day legal support to enable sustainable growth. You’ll balance commercial pragmatism with legal compliance, guiding the business through risk, regulation, and opportunity. You will report to our CFO and will lead a developing legal function, including a newly qualified legal counsel. You will be responsible for shaping legal frameworks that scale with our international operations across the UK, US, and EU, including matters of data protection, consumer law, employment law, commercial contracting, corporate governance, and M&A activity. What You Will Be Doing: ✔️ Advising the Executive Team and Board on strategic legal issues ✔️ Leading the legal function, including direct line management and mentoring of our Legal Counsel ✔️ Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts ✔️ Ensuring legal compliance across all jurisdictions, with particular focus on data protection, consumer law, and employment ✔️ Managing external counsel relationships and budgets ✔️ Developing and embedding scal;able workflows to manage legal tasks efficiently ✔️Promoting a strong culture of compliance and risk-awareness across MPB, through training and internal communications Who We Are Looking For: You are a pragmatic and commercially minded lawyer with a solutions-first mindset. You thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy collaborating cross-functionally, and can translate complex legal issues into accessible, actionable advice to our passionate global stakeholders!
