As a Prison Officer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the health, safety, and wellbeing of everyone around you. Your contributions will help provide structure to prisoners' lives, encourage positive choices, and support their rehabilitation journey. Your daily responsibilities will include:
* Supervising prisoners in all aspects of prison wing activity.
* Overseeing work and education programs, motivating prisoners to participate.
* Handling operational matters such as headcounts, cell searches, security, and administrative tasks.
* Managing prisoners at risk of self-harm.

Preparing for Your Recruitment Journey
Your journey begins with an online assessment. If successful, you’ll be invited to a virtual competency-based interview and assessments in Maths and English. Following that, you’ll attend a Welcome Briefing at HMP Fosse Way, participate in a Group Session, and complete a Mobility Assessment.
Once you pass these assessments, you’ll embark on a 10-week Initial Training Course (ITC), which includes 8 weeks of classroom training and 2 weeks of shadowing. This course will equip you with a Diploma in Custodial Care, First Aid, and Control and Restraint training.

Important Information
This position is based at HMP Fosse Way in Leicester, which has limited public transport options. We recommend candidates live within a 30-mile radius to ensure punctuality and job satisfaction.
Please note that this role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and satisfactory employment references. You’ll need to provide a 5-year history of employment and education.
This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship under current UK Home Office rules. Candidates must meet specific eligibility criteria, including:
* At least two years remaining on your current visa.
* Having lived in the UK for at least one year.
