Summary of Role
Avondale Foods is a leading food processing company of Fresh and Chilled products supplying leading retail businesses in the UK.
We are looking for a highly organised and proactive senior despatch/intake supervisor to lead a 12-hour operation within our fast aced FMCG distribution centre. This critical role is responsible for overseeing the end to end pick and despatch process, ensuring customer orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently and in full compliance with company policies and quality standards.
The Senior Despatch/Intake Supervisor will lead and manage a shift team of 10, including area leaders, warehouse operatives, drivers, and administrative staff. Success in this role requires strong coordination across multiple departments and sites, ensuring smooth and timely communication to support operational excellence.
To be effective, the ideal candidate will bring proven experience in warehouse operations, logistics, stock control, and people management within a high-volume, time-critical FMCG environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate all daily activities of team members across warehouse operations.
* Foster a positive and inclusive working environment, empowering team members to perform at their best.
* Support the training, onboarding, and ongoing development of staff to maintain high standards of performance and compliance.
* Ensure accurate and timely picking of orders and loading of vehicles using handheld scanning devices.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised work environment in line with health & safety and food safety regulations.
* Monitor team performance and productivity, proactively identifying and addressing any issues to ensure KPIs and service levels are consistently met.
* Monitor day to day running of warehouse operation's Goods inward /outward.
* Lead daily team briefings to review KPIs, address challenges and successes, and align on the priorities for the upcoming shift.
* Work collaboratively with other Senior Despatch Supervisors to ensure clear and effective shift handovers.
* Communicate regularly and effectively with key departments including Logistics, Purchasing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Production to ensure smooth end-to-end operations.
* Ensure all documentation and records meet traceability, food safety, and company compliance requirements.
* Maintain 100% stock accuracy by ensuring all product movements in and out of Despatch an intake area is recorded accurately, and daily stock checks are completed.
* Ensure all vehicles, machinery, and equipment within the department are maintained, safe, and fit for purpose, escalating issues where appropriate.
* Insure the intake of all goods are to the correct specification – temperatures, quality an amount being delivered match.
* Knowledge of temperature control, i.e., fresh, frozen and ambient.
* Undertake any other duties as required, in line with the scope and purpose of the role.
* Control all of warehouse operations from FIFO to specific UB dates and quantity.
* Manage the control of waste (zero wastage target)
* Contribute to the development of a culture of Integrity, collaboration 'do the right thing' approach in all interactions.
* Ensure Food Safety compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements to remain audit-ready at all times.

Person Specification
Essential
* Experience within FMCG environment.
* Previous People Management experience (2 years of experience)
* Experience of stock control
* Experience working to tight deadlines.
* IT Literate (e.g. word, excel etc.)
* Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
* Previous experience with HACCP or qualification within this area.
* Experience in temperature-controlled products.
* Goods inwards receipting
Desirable
* Third level qualification.
* Knowledge of food processing preferably gained within a FMCG environment.
* AX and/or Zetes (or similar) system experience.
