Here at UPP we have a great opportunity for a Finance Operations Officer to join our onsite team at Reading.
Reporting to the Residences Director you will be part of a team of over 160 people working to deliver the full range of services to students occupying our 5000 beds across the site. You will work closely with the university and our corporate finance team on a range of activities including rents, recharges, deposits and supporting site teams with their budget process.
Working closely with our site operational and management team, and our head office support teams, the Finance Operations Officer will be accountable for managing:
· The rent income and head/under lease outgoing to University of Reading (UoR)
· The financial management of services and FM contracts under UPP Residential Services Ltd
(URSL)
· Budget oversight and administration
· Student Deposit Management
· Vacation income
· Unavailability/other payments to students/University partner
· Assist with site wide procurement activity
Role responsibilities will include:
· Ensure robust financial processes and controls are implemented / operated at site level and in
conjunction with central finance processes and protocols
· Ensure student deposits are tracked and refunded as per Student License Agreement
· Raise invoices for summer conference and extender business
· Support the annual rent review in line with financial model and update systems accordingly
· Track occupancy and work with Accommodation Services to ensure all voids are captured and
reported
· Coordinate and assist with the annual budget setting cycle.
· Monitor the delivery of Cost Transformation and Revenue Transformation targets reporting
progress
· Agree and raise charges for the above with the University and ensure all income is received and
reconciled
· Deliver regular reporting to our onsite teams and the university

This is a permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday with some flexibility for hybrid working. The salary is circa £40k per annum, dependant on experience.
We are looking for you to have experience working in a finance function requiring interaction with operational teams, a good broad understanding of an operational finance function and in-depth business systems knowledge.
A good understanding of budgeting, invoicing, reconciliations and income management, with the ability to use Excel spreadsheets and handle high volumes of data accurately.
You we also be self-motivated, organised, able to meet multiple deadlines and remain calm under pressure, with great communication skills and the passion to always to a great job across all elements of the role.
