Project Sustainability Lead
Based in Leeds
Permanent Position | Up to £60,000 + car / car allowance
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a leading contractor delivering complex construction projects across advanced manufacturing, logistics, and data centre sectors. As a Project Sustainability Lead, you’ll shape and embed sustainability and environmental best practices on major UK projects, while supporting broader ESG strategy delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
* Be the Sustainability Expert – Act as the main point of contact on assigned projects, providing technical guidance on BREEAM, LEED, and low-carbon construction practices.
* Drive Certification & Compliance – Lead and coordinate project teams to achieve certification targets, maintain compliance trackers, and ensure robust evidence for external assessments.
* Site Visits & Reporting – Undertake regular site inspections, deliver monthly sustainability performance updates to project teams, and develop key documentation such as Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs).
* Collaborate & Influence – Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to align on-the-ground delivery with wider sustainability objectives and ESG strategy.
* Champion Knowledge Sharing – Contribute to training initiatives and share best practices to drive continuous improvement across projects.
What We’re Looking For:
* Degree in Environmental, Sustainability, or related discipline
* 3+ years’ experience in a sustainability or environmental advisory role within the built environment
* Strong understanding of BREEAM / LEED processes and building certification assessments
* Excellent communication skills to engage project teams and external consultants
* Full driving licence (role involves site visits and travel)
* (Professional membership of IEMA or similar body desirable)
