An energetic, confident and friendly Receptionist/Administrator is required to join our happy, hardworking and successful GP practice
We are looking for candidates with previous NHS Primary Care & EMIS experience, good communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
The role includes both front desk and back office duties.
Hours by mutual agreement to be part of a team of six staff covering 0745 to 1930, Monday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
Receive, assist and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Carry out administrative tasks relating to patient records, including filing, document management and ensuring patients can access reports, prescriptions and that they are easily accessible.
Give administrative support to the clinicians, practice manager and reception manager where appropriate and as requested.
Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone.
Follow practice protocols to ensure consistent and high quality care is provided to our patients.

We are a Training practice for undergraduates, GPs and nurses, and are active in our PCN and Federation.

There are excellent transport links, including Kings Cross-St Pancras and Euston mainline train stations, Farringdon and Angel tube station within a mile of the practice.

Job responsibilities
1. To have a thorough knowledge of all practice procedures
2. To work in accordance of written protocols
3. Completion of ERS Referrals via the ERS Portal. Informing patients of referrals.
4. Cancer Safety netting and overlooking 2WW Referrals.
5. Scan incoming post and other documents for electronic filing of clinical correspondence
6. Action third party requests for medical records in accordance with practice protocol
7. Prepare and open up practice at start of day when on early duty
8. Greet & receive patients, consulting with members of practice team
9. Check patients in on arrival using the practice computer system (EMIS) or direct them to self-check in.
10. Oversee the reception area in such a way that ensures all patients are seen in turn
11. Deal with prescriptions
12. Be able to cover all reception tasks as necessary
13. Close and secure practice at end of day when on late duty
14. Process appointment requests for today/future appointments from patients by telephone and in person using the practice computer system (EMIS)
15. Registrations of new regular patients and temporary patients computer data entry and medical records
16. Maintain working knowledge of telephone system
17. Answer telephone calls to the practice dealing with enquiries, fielding calls where appropriate or taking messages using the practice electronic message book
18. Sort and date stamp all incoming patient-related mail
19. Scan patient-related documents onto medical records using read codes as agreed by the clinical team
20. Forward relevant documents to the doctor or nurse
21. Ensure incoming letters are scanned onto the patient record
22. Scan all internal paper documents on to the relevant patients record and then store the documents in line with practice procedure
