Job Summary Arbury Court Hospital is seeking a Full‑time Consultant Psychiatrist on the specialist register for forensic or general adult psychiatry to manage a medium or low secure ward. The role is 37.5 hours per week and includes second on‑call duties, occasional middle‑grade support, and opportunities for voluntary paid first on‑call loco shift and time‑back in lieu.
Responsibilities
Provide care and treatment for adult women with a wide range of mental health issues, managing both physical and mental health concerns.
Deliver individualised plans for people admitted to the hospital.
Work effectively with patients and colleagues to ensure the best care and treatment outcomes.
Drive multidisciplinary care.
Contribute to service development and governance processes, such as quality improvement work.
Build positive relationships with external stakeholders, such as NHS England case managers.
Undertake psychiatric assessments for women referred to the unit to determine the appropriate level of care.
Provide oral and written evidence at First‑tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings.
Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge by attending conferences, online courses, and other professional development activities.
Qualifications
Full GMC registration.
Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
On the GMC specialist register for forensic or general adult psychiatry (or in the process of joining).
Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status.
In good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and up‑to‑date with appraisals.
