Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic practice nurse to join our busy surgery. We provide a service to over 19,000 patients in the surrounding area. You would be welcomed into a multi-disciplinary team to work alongside doctors and other allied health professionals to provide care for our patients with varying needs Please see job description for more in - depth information about the role.
The purpose of the post is to primary care nursing services to the practice population. Working within the NMC Code of Conduct the post holder will provide advanced nurse interventions and influence development of the nursing service. The requirements of the post are linked to the Level 6 of the District and General Practice Nursing Service Education and Career Framework (Health Education England).
Main duties of the job
Administer medications by injection with the appropriate legal authorisation.
Recognise health promotion opportunities and give brief, focussed lifestyle advice using motivational interviewing techniques which may include:
Undertake initial assessments of patients presenting with wounds, produce treatment plans and refer to other services as necessary.
Take samples for the cervical screening programme according to recognised standards.
Provide ear care including removal of cerumen and provide education and advice.
Administer vaccines to adults and children according to the UK immunisation schedule.
Provide a pre-travel health service including administration of vaccines and advice after undertaking appropriate risk assessment.
Administer prescribed therapies such as contraceptive injections, vitamin B12, and depo neuroleptic medications; recognising side effects and contraindications.
Provide health promotion advice on prevention of Sexually Transmitted Infections, take sexual history and initiate investigations.
If had appropriate training advise women on suitability of oral and long-term contraceptive methods and be aware of local referral pathways.
Participate in quality improvement and innovations e.g. audit, significant event analysis and development of protocols and new services.
About us
The Red House Group of GP practice is based in Hertfordshire with the main branch in Radlett and other sites at Shenley and Park Street. The practice population is approx across all 3 sites.
We currently have an exciting position for a qualified practice nurse to join our friendly and forward thinking team. You will be joining a team of 9 GPs, 1 nurse, 2 ANP, I Paramedic, 2 Clinical Pharmacist and 2 HCAs.
This post will suit candidates who want the flexibility in the role due to family/social commitments.
