They’re now seeking a Energy - Market Strategist (Commercial Analyst / Market Analyst / Quant Analyst) to join their optimisation and markets team, reporting into the Head of Portfolio UK. It's a pivotal opportunity to influence trading strategy, market analysis, and portfolio growth in a rapidly evolving sector.
What You’ll Do
* Analyse UK and interconnected power & emissions markets, identifying risks and opportunities
* Deliver clear, insightful reporting for senior stakeholders and decision-makers
* Provide short-term price forecasts to support trading and portfolio optimisation
* Manage and develop large datasets, ensuring accuracy and integrity
* Partner with cross-functional teams (risk, finance, technology, settlements) to enhance performance
* Support compliance, risk infrastructure, and trading efficiency
* Mentor junior team members and contribute to a knowledge-driven culture
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in a mathematical, analytical, or commercial discipline
* 2+ years’ experience in energy markets, with strong knowledge of market drivers and regulatory dynamics
* Proven quantitative and analytical expertise (data analysis, modelling, forecasting)
* Skilled in programming languages and analytical tools for large datasets (ideally Python proficient however strong VBA would be considered).
* Entrepreneurial, delivery-focused mindset with excellent communication skills

First 90 Days
* 0-30 Days - Gather a lay of the land, assessing the exisiting models, broadening your knowledge of the wider team and towards the end of the month taking ownership of the current analysis and models.
* 30-60 - Establishing a pragmatic roadmap for optimising and updating model formats, building and maintaining the current suite and presenting your findings.
* 60-90 - Have established a strong rapport with the wider groups across Strats, Risk, Ops, Tech and Sales. Have a strategic roadmap laid out following GAP analysis of areas of discovery and opportunities perhaps untouched already and creating a backlog both for yourself, the immediate team and partners to deliver against while owning the BAU.
