We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to analyse and optimise production methods and workflows to maximise productivity and quality while minimising costs. The Role: Responsible for exposing waste within the manufacturing process and developing plans to reduce/eliminate it to improve the cost competitiveness of the business. Identification of continuous improvement opportunities via process changes, layout optimisation, equipment enhancements, inclusion of automation Support Operational management in the implementation of lean tools and techniques within the manufacturing and support functions. Responsible for the co-ordination of new design concepts through to full production. Improve design for manufacture by taking ownership/contributing towards the product-based manufacturing issue logs. To coordinate the internal flow and introduction of new product lines into manufacture, focusing on impact changes to manpower, materials, equipment and factory layout to ensure maximum efficiency. Responsible for workshop layouts and efficiency / effectiveness. Responsible for product support on a daily basis, utilising problem-solving techniques. Produce build drawings, create Standard Work Element Sheets to capture all aspects of assembly requirements (Process, Plant, Parts, People) and record modifications/improvements during development builds where appropriate. Responsible for designing and overseeing the build of jigs, templates, tooling and fixtures to improve manufacturing. Ensure all manufacturing processes are safe and capable of achieving and maintaining the required quality standards. Determine, improve and sustain workflows that realise seamless manufacture of goods. Manage projects and a range of stakeholders to delivery excellence in safety, quality, flow and competitiveness. Formulate business cases / budgets as part of improvements to facility, layout, process and or tooling etc. To ensure product process maps are in the most optimum and up to date condition. To effectively coordinate the achievement of Standard Time improvement by product model, requiring time in motion studies to be carried out. Method and work study including direct time study, to establish standard work packages, and line balance. Responsible for participating in cross functional PFMEA reviews to create Control Plans to implemented process controls to ensure product conformity to engineering released standards The Requirements HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering discipline with a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience Or Level 3 Engineering qualification with 5 years relevant experience Experience in an engineering environment. Knowledge of manufacturing processes. Experience in problem solving on a production line. Computer literate in MS Office applications, use of process systems, logical thinker for problem solving and process planning. Experience of, and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
